The Frequently Asked Selfcare Questions

  • This is any medicinal preparation or similar substance obtained from a plant or plants.

  • Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oils capture the plant’s scent and flavour, or "essence". Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence. Essential oils are obtained through distillation (steam and water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing. Once the aromatic chemicals have been extracted, they are combined with carrier oil to create a product that's ready for use.

  • Essential oils should be stored away from direct sunlight and direct heat sources, preferably in a dark amber glass container or stainless steel container.

  • If you accidentally consume essential oils, contact your nearest Poison Control centre immediately so they can assist you.

  • Our quality control officer guides the process of sourcing products from carefully vetted corporate-owned farms, partner farms, and Seed to Seal-certified suppliers, and they are tested extensively. If our exhaustive tests show that a product doesn’t meet our standards, we don’t buy it or reject the batch.

  • No. Since essential oils don't contain water, they don't freeze. Cold temperatures can cause one or more constituents to crystallise. The quality isn't affected, although the crystallised constituents may not thoroughly blend into the solution once the oil is "thawed." This results in a "cloudy" appearance. Placing the oil in a warm location or warm water bath will eliminate the cloudiness.

  • Due to safety concerns, essential oils are not recommended for flavouring food at home.
