You Can Have Stronger and Thicker Hair. Here's How!

We've all seen the shampoo commercials that make us so envious. A young model or famous actress has shiny and healthy-looking hair. They walk into a room with their hair gorgeously in place. Every man, woman, and child stare in awe at their beauty, but it's all because of their hair.

We all want something like that. And it's safe to assume that we've all done things to achieve the star-power hair. I've bought those cheap and unproven supplements Instagram influencers swear by, to no avail. I've ordered generic and undecipherable masks and products online, also to no avail.

We all want healthier, thicker, and stronger hair. But we've been wasting our time and money on products that won't work for us. Hair experts are tired of hearing claims that only one procedure or one way is the solution. To get our hair in the best form and shape, there is no one right answer.

Contrary to the very edited hair commercials, great hair takes work. So let's break down what you need to do to achieve our strongest strands yet.

Eat Better

You may not be expecting this first step to better hair. But any self-care fanatic knows how the body works as one unit. So when you eat trashy food, don't expect to have good skin and healthy hair.

Certified trichologist Michelle Blaisure says, "While genetics determines hair texture and curl, our diet plays a role in how genes can get expressed. Be sure to get plenty of good-quality protein and good fats like olive oil and Omega 3."

Foods such as salmon, nuts, vegetables, and fruits all give the required nutrients to have stronger hair.

Overwashing can be Harmful

We've all heard this before: everything in moderation. This is true for washing your hair. Famed New York hairstylist Lucy Flora says the number one mistake people make is to over wash hair. "There is nothing better for shine than the hair's natural oils," she says.

Help distribute the natural oils of your hair and scalp by gently brushing the hair regularly. Everyone's hair is different, and it will need for you to identify when your hair needs washing.

Stop with the Hair Dryer

This may be one of the harder things to do. Some of us are very dependent on our hair dryers or flat iron. But these hair styling tools damage hair because of heat. IF you must use hot tools, it's important to use protectant sprays that can shield your hair from more damage.

Use the Right Products

We want to stress this fact again, different hair types need specific products that cater to their precise needs. You need shampoo, conditioner, and serums, oils and hair masks that work for you.

This means you will have to test out many products before you find the right one. Ask family and other people who have similar hair types like you, what products have worked for them.
